Though it's more of a run through their back catalog than a proper debut, We Rock Hard comes through on the title's claim, with little of the push-button, big-dumb-techno aspects of most big beat acts. Focusing on electro, ragga, breakbeat, and a closing jungle workout ("Warning") with chatting by MC Navigator, the Freestylers up the ante for Britain's old-school big beat merchants.

Freestylers' second album follows much the same pattern as We Rock Hard, trading on varied Freestyler faves from ragga and rave to old-school rap and electro. Still, this trio of seasoned producers hardly sounds bored by the same old sound, and relatively unseduced by any recent developments in British club life. There's plenty of turntablist terror on the catchy intro, but also on what would've been just a standard R&B tune ("Told You So," with Petra Jean Phillipson). Freestylers again recruit chatters Tenor Fly and MC Navigator for multiple appearances, and find good ways to reuse everything from an old hip-hop standard (Black Sheep's "The Choice Is Yours") to an even older reggae standard (Willie Williams' "Armagideon Time"). One listen to "Bass Odyssey" and it's clear the trio also fondly remember the early-'90s heyday of rave. Pressure Point differs from We Rock Hard in that it doesn't emphasize the anthems/singles, but it's clearly a tighter, better listen.

The Freestylers emerged in the late '90's as a new group of music makers that embraced the 'breaks' sound. They, along with the likes of Plump DJ's, have created a unique sound that has had people getting out on the dance floors like never before. Their previous albums, 'We Rock Hard' and 'Pressure Point' have cemented Freestylers firmly into the world of dance music but it is their latest album that brings them to the top. Here on 'Raw As F**k' some of the catchiest, fattest and most dancable music ever made can be found. The first single 'Push Up' is a perfect slice of pop/dance music that has topped charts around the world. The follow up single 'Get A Life' is just as funky and with pulsing beats, prefect rythym and of course the breaks, it's sure to get people up and dancing as well. But it's not just the dancable songs that catch the attention, the latter part of the album features some really pretty down-tempo moments that make 'Raw As F**k' all the more accessable. Whilst 'Raw As F**k' is a much more commerically accessable album than their previous ones, it goes down in history as one of the truly great albums released so far in the 21st century.

'You Can Be Special Too' is Evil Nine's first full length studio album. Tom Beaufoy and Pat Pardy have outdone themselves with this spectacular album. This album truly stands apart from the pack, a mash of Rock, Punk, and Electronica unlike anything I've heard before. However, the track elements are quite atypical for Breaks and deviate from norms of EDM. The results of this blending are phenomenal, creating tracks suitable for the dancefloor, radio, and regular everyday listening.

Evil Nine's 2nd artist album effort They Live! is direct effort to ride the "zombie" theme to the max, as it features a plethora of undead cover art, dark death-marching beats, and even samples quoting various zombie film classics.
